Edit: Keep in mind..... Riley has also said that he JUST started talking to USC on early Sunday morning LOL. Cmon man, nobody believes that. I never would've guessed he was this bad of a liar.
Lets just take him at his word for a minute. If he makes decisions of that magnitude in that kind of timeframe it's a damn good thing he's gone!

But no, I don't buy it for a second either and that also makes it a good thing he's gone.

He’s probably not lying. Previous talks were probably between intermediaries and his agent. He made the decision to leave months ago. The only question was where/when.

I’ve made the decision to quit my job and take another in minutes. It’s freaking football not planning d-day.

No idea which coach, “It brings to mind a conversation a few years ago with a longtime SEC coach on the subject of what constitutes a dream job. His response was simple: being the big dog in a mediocre conference, like Bobby Bowden was at Florida State or like Dabo Swinney became at Clemson when he surpassed FSU.”

I think this is why he went to usc. You can be the big dog, own recruiting in Southern Cal. It’s a good opportunity. It’s a flat out great opportunity. Ou doesn’t have a winning record over them.

Before. Well before. The Big 12 sat @ 10 teams for how long? Some of the names that they went scrambling for after the OU & Texas departure were mentioned SEVERAL times. Now, I'm speaking for OU only, Texas IMO has a way different culture, but Castiglione has and was VERY vocal leading up to the departure.

Funny, I don’t recall OU ever mentioning leaving for the SEC, until they announced they were? :anyone:

They complained to the big 12 for a long time and it fell on deaf ears. What would you expect them to do? If I go to my boss and tell them something major needs fixed and they don't fix it im not running to other people and complaining. I'll fix it myself even if that means leaving.

Asked if the rumor of exploratory talks between Texas, OU and the SEC were true, Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione said last Friday, “No. We’re watching the changing landscape like everybody else. We’re trying to manage all the new things coming our way like everybody else and learning as we go.”

Asked about the viability of the rumor, Castiglione said, “Come on, man. I don’t even want to be associated with rumormongering. It seems like Groundhog Day. It seems like once a year, people start to trigger some kind of article and start talking about things that might change down the road.”

Over USC, that’s because they have not played them in the last 10 years lmao

No they didn't. However, what I'm saying is that they complained for quite some time and Castiglione was very transparent about their issues. 180 degree difference in lieu of what Riley did. There's a point where you do what's best for you and I get that. However, Riley was either super sneaky and planned this all season (extremely likely) or he ( per his words ) made a spot decision in a few hours without letting OU, who got him to where he was, even respond/offer etc.

There are reasons USC has not been relevant in the past decade or so, and those reason have only been masked at best. They suffer from an extremely arrogant donor base and administration. They've run some good coaches out of there.
