And for that same 40 thousand dollars here? You can put your own kid through a very expensive college (most in Oklahoma are around 20k/year or less), you can pay for insurance, which is paid by the government if you have a business making a profit, you can pay your 2800.00 deductible, get a full mouth of teeth put in and drink as much cappuccinos in the dentist's office all day, hire hookers and snort blow like a madman for a month, and still have enough left over to take your kids and the neighbor's kids to Disneyland for a month.
I'm with you on some of it, but this part isn't what I'm seeing. Gov doesn't pay for insurance for everyone, that's the point of my original post. $16k premium and at least a $8700 deductible. No dental. And the last crown/root canal I had was $2k, so don't think I'll be getting a mouthful of them if I can avoid it. I guess I'll have to skip the hookers and blow.

Anyone ever looked into this company for healthcare plans?

I looked at them last year and from what I could tell they mainly focus on the doctor visit part. I've got that covered. I just looked again on their site and I don't see anything about how it works on anything but doctors.

Don't most providers claim that they lose money on medicare patients? I wonder how much of the charges to private carriers is made up of upcharges to recoup losses on medicare and writeoffs for uninsured?
Hospitals lose $ on Medicare patients. So, Bernie doesn’t understand that if we go single payor “Medicare for all”, it ain’t gonna work..

I chatted on their site. They are basically a fixed indemnity type plan. They've negotiated fees for various doctor visits and procedures, labs etc. You pay the fee to the provider and submit the claim to sidecar and they pay you whatever the negotiated amount is. It makes some sense, and I can see how something like this could help with costs. However, you'd still have to have insurance to cover the catastrophic stuff. So, you'd be doing this along with another plan.

I haven't done a ton of research on them yet either, but I'm just looking for alternatives to needing referrals from Tinker for civilian doctor visits. Up until recently it wasn't an issue to go so my regular doctor at Mercy without one, but something got adjusted with the catchment area and I've gotten a couple of nasty grams about not having a referral. Guess I'll just pay for things out of pocket unless it's super serious, etc.

I knew when I posted the Swedish example I’d get a “why don’t you move there” B.S. response.

And the whole “this is the best country” lecture. I’m a USN vet that visited 5 continents including some of the worst shitholes on earth. You win the lottery of life when you are born in America.

Just because I want to talk about our problems and possible solutions does not make a commie America hating demon.

I happen to be a patriot that thinks the USA can do things better than anyone anywhere.

Maybe the few govt options for healthcare that we have are junk because we are doing it half ass?

There has to be a better way.

I totally get it, believe me. This is one of those issues that's so complex that it seems almost impossible.

Funny that's what you got out of the post. Not funny haha, but funny, sad.

There is a better way. Get the government out of the way. The government getting involved in social programs is the problem.

You are in one of the 4 categories I posted on page one. That’s why you don’t want change and I get it I’d be the same if I were you. But you should post your specific solutions instead of doing the whole “I pulled myself up through hard work“ line just because you have “great benefits“. Like anyone who wants change doesn’t work hard. Some would say you’ve chosen to suck off the corporate tit instead of being the patriotic rugged individual you should be. I would not say that but some would.

I have a very good Swedish friend. He has an AR15, hunting rifles and a Glock 19. He had to take classes, get a background check and has to keep them in a real safe in his home (no RSC). He buys his suppressors off the shelf at the hardware store just like a box of glue, no paperwork.

Now that that’s out of the way…

He makes around $100k a year as a robotics engineer. He pays 40% in taxes all in. For that 40% he gets:

100% medical with a $60 per year copay. Break a femur? $60. Get liver cancer? $60.

100% college tuition room and board included through masters degree. You must keep satisfactory grades or you are booted.

Heavily subsidized fiber internet (he pays $14 a month for tb speed). Heavily subsidized NUCLEAR power (he pays $30 ish a month in dead of winter) total electric homes.

Heavily subsidized dental insurance. He pays around $10 a month for dental. It’s Europe so a lot of people don’t carry dental lol.

Is that worth 40% taxes? I’m thinking maybe. As a father of 3 self employed my two big cost concerns are healthcare and college.

As our system stands now I’m on the hook for $37k out of pocket right premiums and copay for a bad Illness in my family. Thank God it hasn’t happened. We’ve been uninsured for 6 years. Then let’s talk college costs.

If $40k in taxes all in could cover all that? Yeah, I’m in!

Im not saying Sweden is a paradise they have their own problems but what I am saying is Americans are being bamboozled on healthcare by crooked politicians raiding the treasury and insurance execs!
I already pay ~32% in taxes and then insurance on top of that
so no I don't think them raping us for another 10% is going to be any better
