I bought a Sig P226 Mk25 way back when the site was fairly new and after following his directions to his place of business the old fella asked me if I would pay more because his wife needed some medical supplies and his insurance was all tapped out.

I gave him all the money I had in my pocket which came out to exactly what we had agreed to for the pistol he listed. I didn’t have the money to buy the gun to begin with but I made it happen and all I could think of was how nice this guys shop and tools looked along with multiple trucks for his business. I don’t know if it was his business or he was just an employee there, I took possession of my goodies I went to his place for and left the lot. I’ve always wondered how things turned out for them. I also learned to never take more money than what we agreed to before meeting up with someone. Leave all valuable items in a safe place and be prepared for some kind of hitch in the plans. 99/100 times it’s been great.

It’s one less question that gets asked if you put it up front. Most people who buy guns especially want to know why you’re selling it. Telling them to kiss your ass isn’t going to get you many buyers. Yes you could just be making something up, but it’s just a conversation starter. Nobody has to care, doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

I do it because I want everyone to feel sorry for me and pay those exorbitant below market prices I usually ask!

I.E, please buy this ammo for .15¢ per round less than anyone else because my sister's brother in laws brother's Schnauzer has a thyroid problem and I need the money for his Appendectomy!..... Works every time!!!!😆

Yeah, I don't care what they use the money for..
If I don't want to read the stupid explanation, I make new threads complaining about it. Way easier than just skipping over it. :)

I always felt like it was a subtle way of saying I'm not selling it because it's broken or a piece of crap I have other reasons. I never felt like I needed a reason to sell my stuff so no explanation needed

"Wanting to fund my annual excursion to Maui." Or, "Selling to buy my vacation home in the Adironbacks on Lake Placid."

Who cares? All that matters is the price. Go to gunbroker completed sales then deduct 10%.

If you're selling a Ruger 10/22 stainless with laminated mannlicher stock, deduct 50%.

Nobody is impressed with your leisure resume.

(BTW, concerning that third item, if you happen to have one for sale at half off, PM me.)

;)
First World Problems, if this is your greatest complaint in life you should count yourself blessed.,,,,, just saying . Sure someone will find a reason to be upset but this isn’t my trigger 😂

I've always looked at it like the more information the better. It's better than those one word ads, "Rifle $200". I understand it's all about the price, but if it's one heck of a deal... you are going to be the one asking questions. There are people with few words, and they'll be wondering why you asking all these questions buying thier gun. It kinda tells the character of the person you are buying from, not that it matters, but to some people it does, for future transactions. I ain't gonna lie, I always ask the question anyways, so it just skips a few steps. Also like buying a cheap car, I rather know upfront, the history and problems and not have a suprise later.
