Not at all. That's a farce perpetrated on people, that if you have a degree, you must become an officer. Noise.
Some of the best NCOs I've had the pleasure of working along side had multiple degrees...before they came in.
Some of the smartest men I know are NCOs.

Some of the stupidest humans I've ever met on the face of the planet were Os.

Besides, the wheel that makes the Army and Guard go round and round is not powered by Os. They're here today and gone tomorrow, but NCOs and enlisted are always here doing real work.
I trained several Electronic/Electrical engineers that got drafted and opted to take the 2 year draft as an enlisted man so they could continue work in their field vs OCS where they would likely have gone to Vietnam as an infantry officer, becoming cannon fodder.

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard SF has the highest percentage of NCOs with advanced degrees.
I believe that is true. Rangers are snake eaters and SF trains the indigenous to fight.
I knew a major that was bored, put in and got Airborne at age 40. Of course, he was built like a horse.
