My daughter got it done tonight. Shot this buck at 50 yds but had him as close as 15 yds while she was trying to decide if she wanted to take him or wait for a bigger one. Perfect heart shot. He ran about 10 yds and did a belly buster into the creek about 10 ft below. He was dead before he hit the water. Had to get the Ranger and winch to get him out.

The trail cam pic was 10 mins before she shot him.

I may be 100% full of crap, but I'm hearing from a lot of hunters that they are seeing dink bucks chasing and nothing big in daytime.
It's my opinion only that the doe to buck ratio is not good so the big dominate bucks have singled out the does to breed and went nocturnal. My cell cams pretty much confirm that as there is nothing but dink bucks in the daytime with the bigger bucks coming in now after dark with a doe that previously came in during daylight.
Again, just my opinion.

Pretty sure my neighbor got this one yesterday morning. I had been seeing him on the camera about every day. My wife heard a shot, and I haven’t seen him since. Hunted yesterday evening and today and nothing but small bucks. I did have 18 does come out at once just before it was to dark to see.

I’m right there with you. Something is off this season. Little bucks harassing doe but not really chasing. Big bucks are nocturnal and even mature bucks like my daughter’s is more interested in the corn feeder than chasing tail.

That said, I did hear one heck of a fight going on this evening right at dark. Couldn’t have been more than 100 yds away but could see them in the low light.

That seems to be our observation at our place. Lots of spikes and fork horns coming around, but our big target bucks are being awfully elusive. However, I don't see many does either. Our overall deer density isn't off the charts. A lot of deer are hitting the feeder and leaving right before shooting time, or coming an hour after sundown.
