Still no juice in my part of Tulsa. Being a transplant from Washington, what I don't get is where are all the utility trucks? I'm driving around trying to stay cool, and I still haven't seen a single one. In WA, they would be EVERYWHERE. Of course, they would have had nearly all power recovered within 24 hrs after a bad storm also.
Does Tulsa simply not have the necessary infrastructure?
Washington's power grid ain't what it use to be, I remember outages being rare lasting minutes, before I left they were common, random and lasted hours to days.

That makes sense. I'm just frustrated like everybody else I suppose. I drove something like 15 miles this morning, and was unable to find any ice to purchase. Perhaps I should just crawl under the car with the dog. She seems to have good instincts.
Freeze a few juice bottles in your chest freezer in the future. I like the cranberry ones cause they are rectangle. Worst case scenario you have some drinking water.

Oklahoma has some of the best repair crews in the nation—that’s why you’ll often see them in other states after natural disasters. The fact that there’s still so much power out, and that it’s such a patchwork of outages, tells me that this was an extraordinary weather event in a state that’s unusual prepared for extraordinary weather events.

I’m not seeing a lot of obvious problems like lines down, so I’m thinking @rickm is right, and it’s damage to substations, etc, not the kind of stuff where you’d expect to see linemen rolling.

FWIW, electricity is pretty spotty in South Tulsa. The stoplights on Yale at 91st and 81st are working normally, but the lights at 71st, 61st, 51st, and Skelly are out, and the lights between 71st and 61st are either off or flashing red.

And there are way too many people out who don’t understand (or just DGAF) how to deal with stoplights that are out.
Exactly critical infrastructure first then homes maybe be a man or he can go back to Washington

I spoke to soon. Woke up to this.

My niece's car is totaled. Thankfully we still have power though.

You're welcome to judge my character, but there are a lot of assumptions involved with the intentional insult. I didn't insult you, or even this place. I shared my experience, and compared...in order to get more insight into what's going on around me in this still new to me environment. Asking questions and gaining information from my community shouldn't result in personal attacks.

Also consider that most, if not all, utility companies in the central plains are setup where everyone assists everyone else. When the damage is spread out all across the state, everyone is too busy taking care of their own to help the next guy. The crews are spread out pretty thin right now I'm sure.

My sis in West Tulsa (near Page Belcher golf course) had an incredible 30 minute lightening show @ 12:30, followed by lots of wind and some rain. She and the whole neighborhood had no power. She iced down the beer in the morning and cooked all of lunch on the gas grill. Her neighbor was using small gas generator for his house and EV. RECAP: Power out 33rd W Ave & I-44 to Ark River to Jenks to West in Creek Cnty. Lots of trees down on 33rd and Elwood Ave. BIL said they had PSO ... FWIW.

About 5:30, I was hungry for pints ice cream. Two diff Brahams were closed. Reasors (Jenks) only selling dry goods. Several Sonics closed. Restaurants in Tulsa Hills were open. I guess I could have had soft serve ice cream / yogurt, but I wasn't interested.

I hope everyone had a good Father's Day.

Most signal lights now days has a battery back up system and the lights will operate like normal for a certain length of time and then go into a flash til the batteries are completely dead and are recharged by some means.
