I made my first hunt down there last year, and every vehicle got searched the the ODW GW's. I went over that truck with a fine toothed comb making sure it was clean. There have been many boxes of shells spilled in there, etc, and all it takes is one, and you go home.

That's good info.
This sounds like an interesting event. I am interested in getting back into archery after a long time away from it.
To go to this, I would have to disarm before leaving home - can't CCW and can't have weapons in the car. Nope. Don't want to go that bad.

lots of other rules as well, no gps, including driving gps's like TomTom's, or matches, etc.
Go to this link. It has all the info of prohibited items. http://www.mcaapcontrolledhunts.com/

Wow.

Anyone attending who has not seen the link that dennishoddy just put up should have a look before going. No 2 way radios, no cell phones with cameras built in, no binoculars, no compound bows, and more.

I was in the Army and I understand base security. I'm not complaining about the restrictions, nor am I attending.

Reason for the high security as your hunting around live munitions. They don't have the fuses attached, but never the less...

One thing to note, is that they have changed the rule on the cellphones with camera's. Since all of them have cameras now, they told us last year it was a safety issue to allow cell phones in case somebody fell or need medical help. They did say that phones and possible pics on them were subject to a search if they wanted.
Mine stayed in my pocket.

I didn't know they were that serious on the bow shoot. I have been to the hunt several times but I don't remember all the regs counting at the competition because you are not allowed out on the area but I will be checking into it for sure.

I'm pretty sure your allowed to use your camera in the camping area. Just not in the field.

Had a great time in the heat today and by the way, they never asked a thing about weapons, etc at the gate. Asked to see the driver's DL and no one elses and kind of glanced in the back of the truck, no questions about anything except, "Are you here for the archery shoot?". Here are a couple pics of my nephew shooting the last target of the shoot with his 40# browning wasp and of our group waiting to shoot. Lots of waiting. I'm in the red shirt.

I 'Ve only been there once (last year)
but they were strict. I'll see how it goes in 2 months.
I read where they relaxed some rules at othrt installations? Anybody hear the same thing?

They are extremely strict on the hunts but I think since no one at the archery shoot was out on the actual bomb storage areas like at the hunt, they were a lot more relaxed.

I work there and they are serious about the rules, but things like the shoot's and the traditional hunt are great. More wildlife than you will see anywhere. Thus you play by the rules and get chances to bag sone nice wildlife. Heck as for the rest, you should see what it takes to go anywhere here. Security is taken seriously, but how many jobs can you say I worked with 6 tons of explosives this morning, 6 tons this afternoon, and they werent the same piles.
