My heart doesn't allow me to charge someone with a recent honorable discharge at all. I give them the option to sit the course in it's entirety or just the required portions. Most sit the course and enjoy the free range time. For those i issue a full certificate.

I was also made aware of another instructor in the Durant area charging $75 for the course so folks need to be aware and informed.

Guess the the instructor was worried about your group or something; that's an awful long time; it's good that he had the patience for you all.

no it was just a fun time shooting. He had a private range, so we could shoot as along as we wanted.

I've retired from doing the OK SDA classes, but I never accepted a DD214 for pistol qualification either, due to the CLEET instructions to SDA instructors. We were required to certify under penalty of law what gun was fired, so a range card or printout was good to go since it listed the weapon used. I still have both my rifle and pistol qualification range cards from my 27 years active.
Residency exemptions also required specific documents, and we had to list the source documents. The easiest exemption I ever did was for the Altus AFB OSI agents, who had all their documentation for a complete course exemption. Filled out their paperwork, gave them books and suggested they read them carefully, all as prescribed by OK law for Federal LEO.
I would be very leery of any instructor who routinely does "quicky classes" or pencilwhips any paperwork for the SDA license. Another purge of non-compliant instructors by CLEET is overdue.

Oh, editorial comments: I offered military "no shooting" classes for $25 if they had gun-specific shooting documents, but few ever attended.
And the fee for those who shot was to cover insurance and the supplies of ear plugs, eye protection, ammunition and loaner guns for all those that showed up with a borrowed gun they had never shot, the wrong ammunition, and no eye or ear protection. I would have preferred not to try to teach shooting in 2 hours in the state-mandated course; go learn to shoot FIRST.
