I could see it being used in grizzly country or other areas where humans aren’t at the top of the food chain to alert one of approaching danger at night while sleeping in a tent.
Yea those have been around for years although I have not seen that particular one. Have seen those that use regular 12 gauge shell, think a few people have been crippled with them breaking in somewhere.
Trip wires and hand grenades can deliver MIGHTY satisfaction on the perimeter. Used them quite often in the Army
Federal trappers use to use a device like this but it had a 3-4 inch tube/barrel and a 12ga buck shot shell. When the varmint stuck his face downward toward the bait/barrel....well.....no more varmint.
A favorite VC booby trap was to take a gernade and drop it in a C Rat can with the pin pulled, but the spoon being held in place by the can. Attach a trip wire and when the wire is "tripped" it pulls the gernade from the can freeing the spoon and BANG!
