Thanks guys, you got me thinking in different directions. I sometimes seem to get tunnel vision. I particularly like the suggestion of the RTI system. I'm looking into that.
I've been carrying for several years, but I've just recently noticed that the butt of my gun is seriously damaging the back of the seat in two of my cars.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to continue carrying without having to get my seats reupholstered on a regular basis?
I'm not sure where to best pose this question, but anyone is welcome to weigh in!
I am building my first 1911. I have found a good quality barrel, but... it is a six inch. Can that be cut down for a five inch slide?

Remember also that when your gun is holstered, the trigger is not accessible. This gives me an additional level of comfort and security. By the way, choose a good quality holster for carry. When you scimp on the holster, you will most likely end up spending more money trying different holsters...
