The Ten Commandments monument must be removed from the grounds of the state Capitol, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled Tuesday.
In a 7-2 opinion the Supreme Court found the placement of the monument on the grounds of the state Capitol violate Article 2, Section 5, of the Oklahoma Constitution which prohibits the use of public money or property to directly or indirectly benefit a church denomination or system of religion.
I'm surprised more Christians weren't upset about the government displaying the 10 Commandments monument to begin with, for tacitly suggesting that we are all under the Jewish Mosaic law. Maybe scoring a political point for the religious right is more important to some than teaching correct doctrine.
Leaders of the Oklahoma House said Wednesday they will support a resolution asking voters to repeal a section of the Oklahoma Constitution that prohibits the use of public property to benefit any religion.
