My go to bullet for the last few years is the 55gr Flat base V-Max in .224"
It is like a tiny hand grenade and I was really expecting something like that.
Probably need a thinner jacket for that to happen.

Shot placement though as we all know.

According to my second edition of the Sierra manual, the 110 grain hollow point runs 3300 fps at max load using several powders. The 125 grain runs 3200 fps with again max loads running different powders.

I know that back decades ago, before folks had a rifle for every purpose, it was fairly common to use 30-06 as a varmint gun.

110-125 gr bullets at 3k+ fps work well in that application.

Really, the 30-06 (and 308 to a lesser extent) is a very versatile cartridge. From groundhogs to grizzlies, it can do it all.

I still have a few rounds of .30-06 55gr sabot. Best as I can remember, they were zippy, but accuracy was so-so. Not prairie dog good, but hand grenade on coyotes.

I wonder if anyone has reloaded with 69 gr or 77 gr bullets? Maybe 45 gr V-MAX?

Velocity checked today 47 °F.
110 SP 30-06 22" barrel FC cases CCI200 IMR4064 58 gr.
3253 and 3259 for tight neck tension and Loose tension was 3248 fps.

MY .308 110 load I had 2 left and 18" barrel 3049 and 3017 Fps.
I need to back off the load a smidge and see if the group for that .308 tightens up a little.

I'm just about out of 110gr. I've got an old Steven's bolt action 30-30 that I shot most of them out of. Shot quite a few out of my 30-378 also lol. The 125gr ballistic tips were much more accurate out of the 30-378 though.

Shot the 110 gr loads again yesterday in gusty winds.
200 yard not holding together well. New scope and it did very well.
Last shots of the day 4 quick ones same head stamp maybe 5 seconds between shots with a very warm but not HOT barrel after shooting 10 at 200.
Those last Four .420" center to center group @ 100 yards.
Yea that picture is a mess. Circled at the top of the tape was the last 4
