That's a rather subjective qualifier, then. How practical does a firearm need to be for use in such a competition? Clint Eastwood aside, I can't see how a M1 Garand can be very practical for self-defense, especially in a house. A M1 Carbine would be better for such an environment, if one wants to use a WW2-vintage American firearm. A full-auto M1928A1 Thompson might be more practical still, not to mention being way cool especially with a drum magazine, but for the weight, cost, and the NFA cr@p.
