I had heard that. I'm only using them for pistol calibers. My current plates are 3/8" AR500 and have a welded tab on the back for a hanger and I'd like to use the same hangers I have. They have had a few K thrown at them and not even the edges are nicked.
Another tip if you are going to put them on a semi rigid stand is to angle them down/forward a few degrees which will direct that back splatter into the ground. Wear your glasses regardless! You only get one set of eyes. If you shoot enough steel you will get bit.

Be aware that welding on them will soften the steel.

I shot 1 of these targets last weekend, and at 50yds it will take Wolf Fmj .223. 55grn.
These also have very smooth cut sides, not rough torch cut.
Just trying to figure the best way to hang them!?!?
