For what its worth, to add to the confusion, Rem. for a period of several years, decided to rename the 280 Rem., the 7MM Rem. Express.

That was quite the advertising/sale tactic fiasco. I've got an unopened box of 7mm Express sitting on top of the reloading bench, as a conversation piece.

Yes, sort of like 244 Rem/6mm Rem. Your right, it was a fiasco.

I used to sell a lot of 7mm weatherby magnum to people who had been incorrectly sold 7mm remington mag ammo when i worked in a gun shop.
