Years ago I bought a Russian Makarov in .380 cal.I had the choice in .380 or
9x18.My reason for .380 was I thought it would always be more available.
Boy was I wrong, an 9x18 is CHEAP!

That little Makarov is one great gun & fun to shot.
Do any of you know the ballistics between .380 ACP & 9x18 ammo?:loser:

Using the 2007 Federal cartridge ballistic calculater (free dl at their website a couple of years ago), there is no practical difference in either fps or energy. Federal only loads one round for the Makarov and it is the same bullet as one of their .380 loads - a 95 grain fmj. The ballistics are nearly identical.

I really like my E. German Makarov. Question - a while back it was more or less common to buy, I think, *just* a .380 replacement barrel and a Mak would work fine with .380. If that's true, there are a couple of places that sell Mak barrels, so you ought to be able to go the other way with yours...
