I've had an AMT Automag in .44 mag, and currently have an AMT Automag in .22 magnum. They are picky guns when it comes to ammo. Later versions were not as picky as the newer models as they worked out the bugs.

The AMT backup is in the same boat. Not many were manufactured, and some were used for boat anchors. Others reported good reliability using the higher velocity ammo. I'd say buyer beware, and buy at your own risk.

i've got a AMT .22 backup, had it for at least 25~30 years, other than a broken firing it's been trouble free
main thing is keep it clean, .22 ammo is notorious for being very dirty
i learned along time ago that using jacketed bullets rather than lead ones increased the feeding reliability also
