It's not very often that I get to contribute to this thread, but today I got an early Christmas present and I just have to show it off. 😁

Howa 1500 APC Chassis in 6.5 Creedmore in a sweet American flag finish. (please ignore the dirty dining room table. 😁)

Backstory: My dearest friend, John, passed some time back with ALS. I bought some of his guns from his widow as much to be sure she got what they were worth as for their sentimental value to me. The rattiest one meant the most, partly because as a kid of about 8 or 9, I can remember his little brother who was my age taking me back in their bedroom to show me his big brothers rifle rack where this was one of maybe three guns on the wall. John was my eldest brother, Matt’s, best friend back then, and Chris was mine. Our older brothers were 6 years older than us. Sixty some odd years later, Chris was gone, Matt was gone, and now John was gone, and there among his other guns was that well used Herters Mouser 98 action in .243.

This is my effort to bring it back to what it must have looked like then. Pictures are before and after (or at least current)… just getting its first coats out in Georgia by a friend I trust. He just sent pictures this morning! I’ll have to take a picture when finished and update this post once I have it back together.

Wife wanted me to pick up a pizza today while I was in Elk City. While waiting on pizza, I stopped at a pawn shop across the street, and found this beauty. Hard for me to leave an old Ruger revolver, especially when a vintage Single Six is same price as the new Wranglers. My first plum colored and first flatgate I think. 1956 birthdate per serial #. Expensive pizza but worth it!
