Saw this on X.com yesterday. POed me, I believe it. They offered to buy her out of campaigning, and yes, they reference "back east." In one they actually went as far as implying assassination.

Lake is asking for his resignation and I hope he is too ashamed of himself to continue in politics. She has a lot of integrity, if more politicians should follow her standard we'd have. far better country.

Both political parties have done great damage to our nation. Way too many people pay no attention to anything other than the "team colors" when deciding how their vote will be cast.
I am of the belief that they have done irreversible damage to our country of which there is no hope of a complete recovery.

To answer the question asked, yes and no. The party is always going to do what they think is best for the party. If they think someone does not stand a chance of winning, they will try to keep them from running. Sometimes that can be a good thing if the candidate is a sleazeball. Other times the sleazeball is pushing the party to get rid of others so the sleaze can have money & power.
The one really good thing about parties is without them we would have 10,000 candidates for prez and most would be sleazeballs.
