I don't think it hurts the type of plastic most polymer guns are made from. I know it doesn't with Glocks...I've used it for years.

I've seen it 'melt' certain plastic, aftermarket grips.

Just dab a little on a Q-Tip to test if you're worried about it. It's great for getting into AR chambers and some other places. Also fantastic for degreasing screws, scope rings, etc.
