Try tapping the starter with a wrench or small hammer. The starter brushes may be filled with carbon. If it starts, replace the starter.

If that doesn't work, put the automatic transmission in neutral and see if it starts.

Interior lights can come on with a weak battery, but you would likely hear a click from the starter or see the interior lights start to dim when turning the key. I'm with KOPBET on it being a bad starter. They are very easy to rebuild. Try to jump it with another vehicle and tap on the starter if possible. It could also be an aftermarket alarm, relay, or fuse.

Pull cables off battery and clean the connections with the wire brush battery terminal cleaner tool. You'd be surprised that it doesn't take too much residue to weaken the connections

Possible the interlock switch (plastic POS) that won't let the starter engage unless it's in park or neutral is broken/malfunctioning. I've had to replace a bunch of them in various make/model vehicles.
this...take it out of gear and jam it back in and see if it starts. Sometimes this will still allow it to start if the neutral safety switch is acting up.
