Collinsville Cardinals win 5th consecutive Wrestling Dual State championship! !

OMG! ! !
So exciting today! C'ville met Piedmont in first round of 5A Dual State tournament. My son (first year HS wrestling) was our first wrestler......he won in sudden death OT and got us off to a 3-0 start. Team went on to beat Piedmont 50-15.
Semi-final match against Altus, we start off slow but come back to win 26-24 with son wrestling the final match needing a win to advance the team after Roc pins his man at 195lb! ! !
Championship is against Coweta who gets out to a 0-15 lead before C'Ville came roaring back to lead 30-15. Coweta won a match by pin to make it 30-21. ..... 195 lb Roc Robbins pins his man for the win...C'Ville forfeits the last two matches and WINS 36-33
5TH CONSECUTIVE DUAL STATE 5A CHAMPIONSHIP ! ! ! !

Congrats. How was the venue? I still wish the OSSAA would put all 4 classes in one place for Dual State.

Perry had a barn burner with Plainview. All tied up going into 195 and we get pinned. We picked up a decision at 220 and a fall at 285 to win 30-28. Fun match to watch.

I loved Dual State, probably the most exciting high school sports tournament in the state.

Venue was Firelake Casino Arena in Shawnee. It was ok I guess. Sound system was terrible.
Oh I realize we aren't on par with Perry or Tuttle but it's still an accomplishment for a school that doesn't have a wrestling heritage.

I was wondering how things went at the Firelake Arena. I don't know that I like seeing high school events held at casinos.

The arena is seperate from any of the other buildings. Lots of free parking but sound system was baddd. Seating is cushioned seats with cup holders that fold back. Restrooms and concessions on east and west sides.
First time I've been to Dual State as this is son's first year wrestling (senior@220lb). He's fought thru lots of losses while learning and is getting more confident with each match. I'm just a little proud if u didn't notice.

Ok...another update and plug for my son.
Regional wrestling tournament this weekend....he finished 3rd and qualified for the STATE tournament next weekend. Not bad for a first year senior in high school wrestler! !
Alas, Coweta who we beat at Dual State last week kicked everyone's ass.

We did qualify 10 wrestlers for State.
