Did you clean/lube it before you took it out? I'm not sure how Colt ships 'em, but it could have some preservative in it that's slowing everything down.

Whose M855 is it?

I do not think it is your buffer that is causing the problem. I think it is your barrel. From the sound of it, your over milspec. I would stay away from the barrels over 14.5 inches...

have you disassembled your bolt carrier group? Nothing working against your firing pin?

I know it sounds like a "is it plugged in" kind of question, but funk in those moving parts can cause probs.
