Crappie are on the beds.

Went crappie fishing this morning in the rain. We brought home 33 nice ones. The biggest was weighed at the bait shop in Kaw City and was 2.4 lbs. They are having a crappie contest, and our biggest one wasn't even close to 4th place. Right now a 3 pounder is in the lead. Most of the females would release eggs if you squeezed them any at all. Caught the females in 3' of water, and the males were at about 10'.

Some of those are weird looking crappie.. I almost went this morning for trout but didn't because I might do another 2 day trip to LMF again this week.

Looks like the sand bass are with 'em. When's the fry? I'll bring a shotgun and clear those yard birds out for you.

Minnows. We started with jigs, but they just didn't work.

We did get two sandbass. Both on the jigs, and interestingly enough we caught two nice channel cats with the jigs up on the bank. They were shallower than the crappie. We had enough fish cleaning to do, so we released the channel cats.

Looks like a good trip. Just 2 sand bass? Looks like more than 2 in that pic, regardless looks like a good mess of fish for the Ponca City FGST.
