Maybe some very fine emery cloth can remove some of it. If the barrel can be removed from the frame, a 30 minute soak in 50/50 vinegar and water, followed by a good rinse and oiling.

I hit it with break free and some fine steel wool and that seemed to have done pretty well. Someone more knowledgeable than me I'm sure could fix it right up. I've just been keeping her oiled fairly well to prevent it from getting any worse.

I have had numerous successes by fully disassembling a firearm to its steel components, boiling those components for 30-45 mins to convert some of the rust, scrub the parts with #0000 steel wool or steel wool substitute, then soaking in kerosene or mineral oil to set the newly converted rust.

Mark Novak is an excellent gunsmith with YouTube content who has several videos articulating these steps

If I could I would buy her from you as these are great little pistols, but right now I am still trying to figure out how to get AKGuy's DP51.
