I'm sure with the right amount of time and tools it can sometimes be done on the block still. I have yet to mess with one when it breaks. I normally just pull the head and take it in to be pulled.

It's not that hard at all in the vehicle. If you can change a plug, you can tap and install an insert. The kit makes it easy.

Watch it very carefully. If i was a betting man it will happen again because i bet it stripped it out. Hope this isn't the case for you though

Well I drove it about five miles and it all seems good. The check engine light came on for the first time in the trucks life but I guess its because I started it with a vacum hose disconected. I will watch it close. It backing all the way out makes little since to me to but it tightened up pretty good
