Cutting the bob off the hammer makes it run faster with the JP springs.
You should have mentioned that you had lighter springs in the first place.
They won't run reliably with a full mass hammer, you have to chop it or buy the JP speed hammer.

Google JP speed hammer, and look at the pic. Hacksaw and a little file work will get you where you want to be.
