Yes.Melt it all down in a separate pan though. (not in the casting pot if you use one)
Stir well with a stainless spoon and scoop the crud off the top...Then pour the ingots..

Also stir it with a DRY stick of some kind scrapping the bottom and sides of the melting pot, this breaks loose the trash trapped by the weight of the lead.
Do your smelting out side and stay down wind so you don't breath the toxic smoke comming off the dirty lead.

My F-I-L gave me a big smelting pot a couple years back. Man I need to get it running.

Anyway just be careful you don't over flux. You'll see some slightly discolored almost oily look on top. That's some of the stuff you want to leave.
