Anyone aware of a local OKC shop / store that carries the Galco Summer Comfort holster line? I was hoping to inspect and try one on in person before forking out any money. I rather avoid ordering online and likely returning it if at all possible.
I do not know of a local vendor, but Shadowrider's Amazon suggestion is a good one. However, I'd recommend NOT going with the Summer Comfort. The leather is floppy, and it's way too thick. Why take a nice little gun like a J-Bird and stuff it in a thick, floppy, mass produced rig? Doesn't make any sense to me. You probably will be better off, and happier, with a thinner, better quality holster. Can I suggest taking a look at www.ubgholsters.com? He makes some very nice stuff, his holsters run like $65 and he gives a nice discount if you use coupon code "OKShooters" at checkout. For an IWB, I like both the Canute (belt loops) and the Striker (clips). If you don't mind forking over a little more money, the best THIN, good quality IWB for a small gun I know of is the KX Lightweight by www.TTGunleather.com, an amazingly comfortable, top shelf holster. The KX Lightweight is perfect for a small firearm like your classy J-Frame. My second choice would have to be UBG's Striker, without any reinforcement, which you really don't need with a J-Bird, and it will only add thickness.
IMO, the absolute best J frame holster out there...and try not to laugh...is the simple little Don Hume JIT slide.
These little guys ride so close and so tight, it's almost like wearing an IWB holster. And they can be had for around 20 bucks or so. Top, top TOP quality leather with Hume AND you're supporting an Oklahoma bizness.
Thanks GED...dlbleak recommended this exact holster as well.
It's not local but check out Tucker gunleather-- the coverup plus. When you talk about quality holsters this guy is right up there as one of the top makers in the business.
