Does anyone know of a company that can recondition an old car's gas tank? The old car I'm buying has sat for 20-25 years, so I'm sure it has some rust.
Many vehicle models have a direct fit replacement that aren't real expensive.
The car is a 1962 Jaguar Mk II sedan.
Find a radiator shop that works on radiators. They should be able to help you out.
Things were generally made better back then (possibly heavier galvanization), so you might want to check it out first.

POR15 makes a gas tank sealer if the steel is in good shape and you are just wanting to refresh the coating inside and out. There are a few other options if you search around, but I have always been happy with POR15 products.

I haven't got the car home yet to check out the tank. I was just prepping for the worst-case so Nario. I may have to pull the tank to fix a leak on a brass plug.
I get it. I highly recommend dropping the tank on any car that has been sitting a while or is getting up there in age, especially if it is a steel tank and not plastic. It can save a LOT of headache while going through all the basic maintenance stuff to get it up and running reliably again.
I don’t know of a company to do it but I’ve seen it done. They make a special sealer to coat the inside of tanks. The tricky part is getting it clean first.
