There is no such thing as a "green" vehicle available to buy today, and there won't be as long as the so-called "green" vehicles use batteries that have to be charged with electric power generated from fossil fuels.
Something like 25% of the US power isn't from fossil fuels. It's a good start.
Oil is a renewable resource. LOL @ the dead dinosaur idea.
With that said, it's all manipulation. All of it. Even the supposed events that are contributing to the rise in oil prices.
You can have your republicans and you can have your democrats. It doesn't matter which party is in office, the ship will continue to sink.
But that's just my opinion.
You are right, that was the reason they were pushing the so called cap and trade (for the money also)
Shell just gave up trying to get a permit in the arctic. Preventing domestic production is and has been the official policy for a long time.
If you wonder why, you might want to take a look towards the Middle East. Almost all of them have lobbies in DC and for a variety of reasons want us to be dependent in foreign oil, even though most of our imports come from Venezuela and Canada.
The Green River Basin has 2-3 trillion barrels. More in the Gulf, Alaska, everywhere. In every case, there is a "good" reason why we must not produce that oil.
While we find many reasons to prevent production, every other country in the world is doing their best to produce. We need to do some thinking here. IMHO the environmentalists are nothing but "useful idiots" in a bigger game.
We have a deal to buy saudi oil if they buy are tbills. Boy are they going to be mad when the bottom falls out of the dollar. It was made back in the 70s.
How about the lack of new offshore drilling permits since the BP spill? Can't say that isn't affecting the world supply AND speculation....and causing many drilling resources to be moved elsewhere.
