Some of the detail in those pics - especially the "Battle of Britain" grouping - is very crisp. It almost feels like you're there, even in black & white. Very cool pictures, from a very trying time.

Over my years of reading up on WW2 military history, I've seen thousands of photos from the time; so far at that link, I've only recognized a few photos. The rest are new to me, and most interesting and informative - and yes, at times jarring.

A word of caution, however; some of the captions are a bit inaccurate. For example, one photo, showing soldiers of the SS Leibstandarte in action in Poland in 1939, labeled the formation a "division." The Leibstandarte did not achieve divisional strength until 1941.
