No joke - when my oldest boy was barely old enough to talk he had a plastic pumpkin for trick or treating - it was full of 7x57 brass picked up on our frequent shooting trips.

We'd dump them out on the floor and use them to make letters. That is how Andrew learned his ABCs.

FWIW, both my boys achieved highest accelerated reading awards in grade school. I'm amazed at parents who entrust public schools to educate their children. While mine attended public school, they were also schooled on basics at home, as well as history and economics, not to mention the fine arts like skinning catfish and shooting deer, squirrels and ducks.

We have to pass down our knowledge or the disgrace that our society is will be what informs the younger generations. Hell - public schools are currently teaching kids that communists are people!
