I do lots of PC repair. These were all old 40 and 80 GB drives from old XP computers that had been recycled. I save them up over a year or two and go shoot them to make sure the data is destroyed. Plus it's lots of fun!

Perhaps I misunderstood. So are you saying you keep your client's data laying around unprotected for a year or so until you get ready to destroy the drives?

I shot my last laptop PC all to hell then threw it in a scummy pond.

Now don't hold back and tell us how you REALLY felt about that old one, LOL.

But as far as the OP, have had TONS of drives I have trashed at different points. I often get ahold of old hardware and try and put something together for people who are a little less fortunate. Sometimes throwing an old computer with linux and some learning games with an office suite will make a kids life a little better or give an adult something they can learn with to better themself.
