ok hears the deal today I bought an old 22 semi-auto rifle

just got it home and started giving it the look over

Stevens Model 66-B

on the top of the receiver very nicely stamped or engraved it says

Shapleigh's King Nitro

ok now in front of the forearm on the underside of the barrel it says

STEVENS Buckhorn Rifle

midway between the forearm and the end of the barrel on the underside it is slotted for what looks like a sight???

there obviously is no sight there but is a removable piece

any help would be great

Ok first off! a 66b is a bolt action not a semi auto and it is a tube fed magazine. a slot on the bottom of the barrel should be for a ferrule to hold the magtube assy on.
If its semi-auto its probably a variation of the 87 series but a dovetail on the bottom of its barrel would be for the same thing

Shapleigh was a hardware company in St.Louis Mo. and they ordered guns from several gun makers and had their name put on them. just like sears, otasco, tru-value, and montgomery wards did.
