sounds fishy. while im sure keeping in mind the convenience of protecting thousands of users from potential loss of service was nice & all, you gotta wonder what else is being done when the US govt has root access to a half a million strong botnet command server.

Ok, I am not a tech person so I read the article a few times. I get that some Estonians were stealing money through the use of the servers. So the gov't goes in busts them, and has to set up a new server since they pulled the old one. Now we have until July to get our machines straight and good to go otherwise we might be internet-less? How does one check to see if our machines are infected besides clicking on the gov't supplied site link?

Oh wait, let me allow the government to check my computer for malware...

RIGHT.

Funny, I have been a Symantic subscriber for years and have received nothing from them on it. I guess I'll call them up and ask.
