The Hunter/Sporter build for my friend has started,,,
At least I started spending money on it,

This morning I put the Magpul MOE stock, the Shaw 18" barrel,,,
And three factory 10-round rotary magazines on order.

The Complete receiver will be on order tomorrow morning,,,
I have the Vortex 2-8x32 scope and Weaver rings sitting on my bench.

The Shaw website said there is a 7-day delay for the barrel,,,
And who knows how long the rest will take to get here.

Anyways, since hard money has been spent,,,
It's no longer a theoretical project.

It took a while to decide just what rifle to build,,,
But I believe I've struck a good scheme.

It's going to be a fun experience.

I'm playing pool and having a few brews with him tonight,,,
It's going to take self control to not spill the beans.

Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Well, major progress happened today,,,
I went to the PO and everything (except the receiver) came in.

DSC00676.JPG

Sorry for the fuzzy picture,,,
My camera is acting up.

I couldn't resist opening the boxes and messing with the parts,,,
Jamie Lee Catus quickly claimed it as her own property.

It's on the floor and therefore in her domain.

1) Magpul MOE X-22 Stock. It did come with the insert for the .920 barrel
2) UUQ M-lock bi-pod. Not as nice as I hoped it would be but for the time being
it'll be okay.
3) Shaw 18" .920 Barrel. Dang it's heavy but it does look proportional.
4) Vortex 2-8x32 scope with BDC reticle. (Thanks ChiefSapulpa).
5) 3-pack of Ruger BX-1 magazines.

I started with $1,200 and so far have spent $466.38..

The complete receiver (With bolt, charger handle, and Target trigger) should be in early next week. It's $269.00 plus tax and shipping.

The only thing left to buy is a brick of CCI-Standard Velocity,,,
That's another $50.00 plus tax but he will appreciate it,,,
He's got to have some sight-in and break-in ammo.

By then I'll have spent just a bit over $800.00,,,
But for all he's done for me this past year,,,
It's a well deserved "Thank You".

Well, what did your buddy think about "your" .22 build ?
It's still sitting in my living room,,,
After I got the kit assembled in it's case,,,
I called him to see if I could come over and "show it off".

His family is going out of town for the weekend,,,
And here I was all anticipatory like.

Monday after work is when I get to deliver it.

Do not know a lot about the pros and cons but have breathed on the trigger of @mightymouse 's Volquartsen. He uses it as a long range fly swatter LOL.
I have a CZ 457 Varmint MTR bull barrel, with and 8 OZ Timmey trigger. Athlon Midas TAC Scope FFP. It giver my Savage Bull barrel a run for the money, However, Savage has Piss Poor customer service. At 100 yard I can get 1 in or less group. All that said, it depends on the Wind & Ammo. I use my for Pig matches at 235 yards on a 6X8 Inch Targets 18 out of 20 with the wind. . I use a lot of match grade ammo. S& K does well Center X is expensive, and the last match i tried the Lupa Midas!
I use the CZ 457 in .17 HMR which is still another great shooter. for P Dogs. But both CZ's are getting hard to find. Or look for a Lujia barrel. Check out Pursuit of Accuracy on you tube. Ask Josh these questions.

That's a nice set-up you have,,,
I shoot a CZ-457 At-One myself.

I still haven't even started to plumb it's precision level,,,
I went in for Prostate removal surgery just as I was about to get serious.

I'm almost fully recovered now,,,
Just waiting for the spring and warmer temperatures.

But you're a little late with your recommendation,,,
I've already assembled the "Kit" I'm gifting to my friend.

Check out Post # 104.

I'm being frustrated at every turn trying to deliver this gift "Kit" to him,,,
Tonight he is busy packing for a 3-day Boy Scout outing,,,
And he won't be back until late Sunday night.

The kit is just sitting there and it's calling out to me,,,
"Assemble me Aarond, you know you want to."

All I've done is fondle each and every part,,,
My fingerprints need to be rubbed off of every surface.

So maybe this next Monday,,,
