I have a friend that has a M249S ( the semi auto version ) and has been looking for a better trigger or something to help improve the horrible trigger weight. Is there any thing out there?

I hate to say it, but I highly doubt it. Rifles have a trigger to precisely (more or less) send a round at a target. Machine guns have a trigger because they need a button to make them go bang. Every SAW I ever touched had a horrible trigger. It’s a machine gun, not a marksman rifle.

My understanding is that early civilian SAWs had about a 4lb trigger and reliability issues. Also, they were apparently really easy to convert into full auto. So FN had a recall, and anyone who sent in their M249 got back a 15lb trigger. Sadly, it’s not like these are abundant and not enough people have tinkered with them to figure out how to reverse the procedure. At least from what I have read/seen.
