The Savage is a great gun to get started with. I went with the Rem 700PSS because it's easy to upgrade it. All I did was lighten the trigger and do a little sanding on the HS-Precision stock and it will shoot under .5MOA with my handloads. IMO good glass is just as (if not more) important than the rifle. Get a top quality scope, find the right load, and you'll be good to go.

Sounds like good advice, and a direction I think follow.

i have seen guys who will buy a great quailty gun and very expensive ones ,and then go to Wal-mart and buy a $30.00 tasco and then complain that the gun will not shoot or stay on zero. no matter how many times i tell him to get better quality scopes he just will not listen.

that and i have told them that all the money they spend in buying cheap scopes, it has cost them more in ammo and scopes then just buying a quality scope.
