I use a folding table and a lawn chair, because anything that is nice gets carted off by thieves. I don't live on the property my range is on, that could be the problem.
If anyone can post pics I would text them some of my back yard range. I use an old office desk for my bench. And I welded some steel swinging targets and hung them from trees.
So a couple years ago I built a shooting bench and set it at 200 yards in a pasture of ours. What a bonehead idea! I spent tonight moving the "permanent" bench. Each leg is set 2 1/2 feet and the seat supports are 18".It was well worth it thought, because now I have a 550 yard range. Tomorrow night i'm going set targets at every 100 yards. I plan on making them out of 1" plywood and t-posts. One of my buddies can get all of the 1" plywood he want's so that is why I'm going with the thick stuff. I also made my first gong. It's a 10" round ar500 3/8" plate. The bottom of the plate is 30" off the ground to simulate a deer kill zone. I was able to make this for around $45. Anyways I will be updating as the range progresses. Here is a pic of the shooting bench/range and my gong.
This is a previous post of mine. Since then I have put up targets at 1,2,3,4,500 yards.
We made ours our of extra concrete when we were pouring another equipement barn, we made a quick form in a T, about 4ft wide x 4ft long... Then welded a stand for the concrete pad.. it works great, dug post-holes set it in concrete, leveled it and its great!
