I had a Kahr PM9 for a while. It was an excellent carry gun. There were times I literally forgot it was on my hip. Just make sure you carry a spare mag or two.

Some people rag about Taurus but I have a cop buddy who has a whole bunch of expensive defensive handguns and is an excellent shot, and his everyday carry is the Taurus Slim 9m/m.
