If they claim it do they go to jail for stealing?

Or is it just another example of the government condoning and legitimizing the looting they did nothing to stop.

The biggest crooks needing their palm greased LOL.

Or you are reading way too much into it.

You must record all income, even ill-gotten gains. Ask Al Capone. Now, if you do report it…. More of a stupid catch-22.

Wow the IRS thinks since these "upstanding members of society" will claim this is just absurd. They are criminals. Wow is all I can say.

It used to be, the IRS would say with a straight face that if you made your money doing something illegal (like growing and selling cannabis for example), they [the IRS] just wanted to collect the taxes and were prohibited from turning you in for the illegal activity.
Therefore, according to the IRS, being forced to pay the income tax was not a violation of the taxpayer's 5th amendment right against self-incrimination in a criminal case.
Was the IRS telling the truth or blowing smoke (from a big old fattie)?
I dunno.

I think it’s a matter how big of an idiot the criminal is.

Wasn’t there a public service announcement in Ok years ago that if you sold drugs it was illegal but you still had to report the income to the IRS?
Wonder how many fell for that? 😂
