Allstate ran me around on the earthquake insurance too.

I switched to State Farm, Now I am saving 900 bucks a year between 2 cars, and a house, and I have the earthquake insurance.

However the deductable is pretty high on the earthquake side.

This. A fire caused by an earthquake will be covered under your standard homeowners policy. Just don't get caught.

You might want to check on that here in OK. That is what I thought at first when we lived in Washington state. Found out that if the fire was caused by the quake, i.e. broken gas line, downed power line etc. then you were SOL if your place caught fire during a quake event. Decided to add it to our insurance then, and decided to keep it when we moved back here.

Oh, and as far as the State being ready for the aftermath of a major quake, I have to say no. When it does happen, we (as a state) are screwed.
