Is there a difference between a S&W 22A and a 22A-1 ?

I just bought a Smith & wesson 22A-1 and while searching for info on the gun I noticed that some are marked 22A and some are 22A-1.
Does anyone know the reason for the different model numbers?

I think one has the plain barrel and the other is threaded with a flash hider.

I think the -a1 designation is misused, and used to mean it was a target model.
they are all the same; the target model had a different finish maybe, and optional wood grips. 22a's are all the same but come in different finishes and barrel lengths.

the difference between 22a and 22a-1 is that the a-1 comes with a polished(semi-shiny) slide and a fiber optic front sight.
