So is it really illegal (according to SDA) to carry a folding knife that can be opened with one hand and/or is spring assisted? I was looking at some of the Kershaws.

Opening one handed has nothing to do with it IIRC, it is whether it is assisted or not that is not 100% clear what is legal and what isn't. I can open my dad's Buck 110 one handed, and close it one handed.

I know there are those on both sides of it, but I think those that say they are legal are talking about the difference between spring operated and spring assisted. The kershaws, bucks, and a few others are spring assisted and so they say they aren't technically spring operated (ie switchblades, etc).

my sog flash 2 is spring assisted and have been told by several law enforcement people its legal because it still relies on some manual movement to open the blade. (it wont swing open until youve opened it about 15 - 20%
