I had to do them on my 04 too. A real pita for what is essentially a design flaw. The back one gets moisture and dirt in it because of the engine angle. The connection corrodes and throws a code. I’m taking a break and having a cup of coffee before I button it back up.

06 Silverado. Engine light has been on for a couple months. I finally got a day I could get it done.

Hardest thing about this job is remembering how to route the danged serpentine belt!! Oh, and the bending over the fenders!

Good luck!
Yeah, the back of my thighs are burning. I’ve got a leveling kit on it so I’m doing everything off a stool too.
Guess which one is the back one?

If you had the right vehicle with a good & proper engine,
You wouldn't have idiot sensors like this.

I don't own a vehicle with any computer controls. I don't have near the problems that many other people have to take their vehicles into theshop for. It's nice, I wouldn't upgrade to a new vehicle if it was given to me.

Can you not reroute them on that vehicle? That would suck. I had knock sensor issues on my Nissan Frontier and the sensor was located in a PITA location, so I rerouted and put it on top of the intake.

Ya know, that’s a great idea. I suppose a guy could make a little bracket and mount the sensors on the firewall or something.

Some jobs just fight you a little. I dropped the rear intake bolt off the back of the motor and couldn’t find it.
It’s a specialty thing and dealer only. My sons friend works parts at one of the dealers. No luck. David Stanley showed one in stock but they closed parts at 1 today.
I called a friend who usually has a couple motors around. He didn’t have one but was at Pull A Part and found one in the cab of a truck. Woot woot, I’m not dead in the water!

I'll bet that you could reroute it to the intake manifold or back of the block somewhere. I have no clue what the friggin engineers who design these things are thinking sometimes!
