IMO, one of the reasons the realty/land market is on fire right now.
Many people are pulling money out of investment accounts(ira, 401k, etc...) and buying land, rentals, properties for investments or long term ways to hold/invest money. People don't trust the investment markets with the way dotgov is throwing money all over the place, many see an impending market crash and dotgov raiding investment accts

I know that I would rather live in a dump that I own on property that I own,,,
Rather than rent a nicer place or have another big mortgage.
I live in a run down mobile on a small lot in a very old town,,,
But it and the dirt is paid for and I am comfortable.
In my old age I am finding that security is the greatest comfort.

In my life, I have lived in an expensive home and a $23,000 home and both is just a roof over your head and a shelter. In the expensive home, the neighbors weren't friendly. Maybe the reason is they were working hard to make the huge payments and HOA fees...
