I was clearing out an old house and found an ingot and 2/3 of another ingot of linotype lead. It is about 38 pounds of lead. Can this be used by bullet casters? If so, what is it worth? TIA

Yep... linotype has a good % of tin and is a favorable bullet casting alloy.

Midway has casting lead quoted on the sales website... or call over to Murphy's and ask what a bag of shot goes for... that should give you a ball park figure of your leads worth.

Checked a little.... new shot runs about $1 a pound now days....

It's worth it's weight in lead!!! :)

You should be able to call around to some of the metal places for a current per pound quote.

Thanks for the info. I know I could sell it to a metal scraping place, but I thought it might be useful to some of the bullet casters on here. I guess I will put it up for sale in the classifieds for $40 FTF and see what happens.
