LYNNWOOD, Washington -- A Redmond man set a Lynnwood hotel room on fire Friday because he believed Satan was living there, KIRO 7 news partner The Daily Herald in Everett reports.

From the Herald:

The man told police that he set the room on fire because Satan was in there, according to the affidavit. He reportedly said he wanted to protect "the good people" by setting the fire. [...]

Hotel officials told police the man had repeatedly called hotel employees the "anti-Christ" and "spawns of Satan."

Hotel management had asked the man to move out the day of the fire.

The fire damaged about six rooms, the Herald reported.

The man is being held in the Snohomish County Jail on charges of first-degree arson.

...because nothing scares the devil like fire!

The original Hebrew term, satan, is a noun from a verb meaning primarily to, “obstruct, oppose."
Ha-Satan is traditionally translated as “the accuser,” or “the adversary.”

Doesn't necessarily mean "The Devil."

Here in Lawton a few years ago a woman set her bathroom on fire in her apartment because there was a ghost in it. People should remember to take their meds....
