Picked up a Remington 700 7stw bdl dm-b with the muzzle brake. Anyone know what thread that is so I can order a better looking brake?

Unscrew that one and measure it. I would get a thread protector until I could suppress it. Muzzle brakes are noisy and ugly.

Hate em unless used in competition. The right brake will keep the muzzle on target for rapid fire. Most muzzle brakes require double hearing protection because they are so loud.

Different purposes. Competition shooters use brakes. Cans just get in the way.

Maybe some will chime in. We are talking precision rifles, not 3 gun using red dots where center mass on human size target as fast as possible is sufficient. We are talking rifle competition where groups are measured in decimals of an inch not time.

Handguns of course brakes will help, rifles in 3 guns and speed competitions will benefit from brakes. However, I wouldn't guess he bought a Magnum Bolt rifle for speed competition, would you?
